Eat. Learn. play

Eat. Learn. Play. supports Oakland children through programs that help them grow, learn, and thrive—from healthy meals and family food distribution to literacy tutoring, books, schoolyard transformations, and middle-school sports. Its work recognizes that children need both the essentials and enriching opportunities: nourishing food, safe places to play, individualized academic support, and access to books that build confidence and a lasting love of reading. At Laurel Elementary, for example, the organization has paired one-on-one literacy tutoring with Reading Partners Bay Area and a full transformation of the school’s playspaces, helping students strengthen both their academic and physical well-being.

Bay Area Bright Futures Foundation is proud to support Eat. Learn. Play. with a one-time $10,000 grant for childhood-nutrition initiatives in Oakland. Through its mobile distribution model and partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, Eat. Learn. Play. has provided more than 25,000 meals and 85,000 books to Oakland youth and families, meeting them directly in their communities. BABF’s grant will help expand meal and grocery distribution, providing timely relief for families facing increased food insecurity and advancing the foundation’s mission to help underserved Bay Area youth access the resources, stability, and opportunity they need to build bright futures.
