Our Beneficiaries

BABF has awarded three long-term grants to outstanding organizations, providing each
beneficiary with $50,000 annually for 3 years. These organizations have expanded and created new
programs that align with BABF's mission of collaboration among non-profits. As we continue to expand
our mission, we are honored to grow with our three current benefactors.

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) has been a cornerstone of youth development in the city since 1891. Serving children and teens ages 6–18, BGCSF reaches more than 17,000 youth annually through its network of Clubhouses, school-based programs, and summer camps. On any given day, over 1,400 young people walk through their doors to access safe spaces, trusted mentors, and opportunities that help shape their futures. The organization’s work is built around four key pillars—Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character & Community Engagement, and Job Readiness—ensuring every child has the support, structure, and skills to thrive.

BGCSF plays a critical role in supporting San Francisco’s youth, particularly those facing economic and social challenges. The majority of Club members come from low- to moderate-income households, and many rely on the Club for daily meals, after-school programs, and guidance from caring adults. These supports create not only academic progress but also a sense of belonging and stability for thousands of young people across the city.

In 2025, BABF awarded BGCSF a one-time $10,000 grant to support its youth enrichment and academic programs. This investment reflects BABF’s mission to uplift underserved youth by backing organizations that provide essential, community-rooted programming. By supporting BGCSF, BABF is helping ensure that more young people in San Francisco have the resources, mentorship, and opportunities they need to build bright futures.

CoachArt is a national nonprofit creating transformative arts and athletics communities for families impacted by childhood chronic illness. Through free, adaptive programs, CoachArt empowers kids and their siblings to explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect with others who understand their experiences. Founded in 2001 in California, CoachArt has since expanded nationwide and now reaches families in 38 states, offering one-on-one lessons, clubs, and group programs in everything from music and cooking to painting and sports.

In 2024, CoachArt served more than 1,500 children and their families, providing over 40,000 hours of free lessons. Their model recognizes that chronic illness impacts the entire family — not just the child receiving treatment. By intentionally serving both patients and siblings, CoachArt helps build confidence, relieve isolation, and create moments of joy and normalcy during difficult times. With the support of over 3,000 volunteers, their programs foster both personal growth and a strong sense of community.

BABF awarded CoachArt a one-time $10,000 grant to support its tutoring and enrichment projects in the Bay Area. This funding helped expand access to free, high-quality arts and academic programs for children facing chronic illness. By investing in CoachArt, BABF is proud to champion a program that uplifts families, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities for young people to thrive despite the challenges they face.

Bennett Valley Union Elementary School District (BVUSD) serves a vibrant and diverse community of approximately 938 students in grades TK–6 in Sonoma County. With a student–teacher ratio of about 23:1, BVUSD is committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and high-quality education for all children, regardless of background. Many of the district’s students face economic challenges — about 36% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, nearly 13% are English Learners, and around 9% receive special education services. These numbers reflect the district’s vital role as both an educational and support hub for families navigating multiple barriers to opportunity.

The district places a strong emphasis on equity and meeting students’ most fundamental needs. BVUSD offers no-cost breakfast and lunch twice daily, ensuring every child has access to nutritious meals that help them focus and learn. Like many smaller public school districts, however, BVUSD faces funding limitations that make it challenging to sustain and expand these critical programs.

In 2024, BABF awarded BVUSD a one-time $10,000 grant to help bridge these gaps. This gift, inspired by a member of the BABF donor community who works closely with the district, was directed toward strengthening special education and youth nutrition programs. Supporting BVUSD goes to the heart of BABF’s mission: uplifting underserved youth by investing in programs that meet children where they are, build community resilience, and open doors to brighter futures.
